movingMoving is a task that involves more than just boxes, tape and packing. It is an event that can lose control if you are not organized or do not know where to start in the packaging process. You do not want your items lost or broken, but you want the process to run smoothly and quickly. When you are packing and moving, it is important to have a plan and start packing early and knowing what to pack and how to pack it.

Draw a plan

Before sorting and packing items, make a written plan with the following information: the place needs to pack, what great items you move, what items you know may be given away or donated to a charity, your moving date, supplies to buy, truck, or moving services to use, and the duties of friends / family members.

Book and recruiting

Book a rental truck or moving operation for at least two weeks to a month before your moving date. Recruit friends and family at least two weeks before the move date so that you know you will get help. Do not forget to recruit more people than you need if someone has an unexpected problem or changes in plans occur.
Stop and restart Services

Contact power company in your new home or apartment’s area and lay in a pool on the request for at least two days before you plan to move. You do not want to wait for the service to be turned on the day you move into your new place. Schedule for the utilities at your old place to be disconnected the day after moving out so you will not be in the dark on moving day. Do not forget to contact the post office, the cable company, Internet services, credit, your bank and other services at least two weeks before you move to your address.

Supplies

boxesBuy or find things you need to pack before starting the process. Collect boxes, scissors, string, garment bags, bubble wrap / newspapers, packing tape, colored markers, and trash bags. Label one big box “Moving Supplies” or similar formulations. Place the items in this box so that you know where the items are when you need them.

Use a room or area of your home / apartment as a staging area for the placement of items to pack, as well as your “Moving Supplies” box containing the items you need for packaging.

Sort and Toss

Sort your items first. Decide what to donate and toss out before placing the item in the staging area for packaging. When sorting clothes, choose out-of-season clothes first and sort or discard, pack the keeper object in garment bags to keep them from wrinkling.

One box at a time

When packing, unpacking a box at a time to keep from having partially full containers and put the wrong items in the wrong boxes. Mark the outside of the box immediately after putting the first point-Don’t say “I will call later.” If family members or friends help you, check regularly that they follow the rules and not just throw items into one box.
“Carry-on” bag or box

Pack a carry-on bag or box of toiletries, clothes, dishes, cutlery, a flashlight, batteries, make cleaning supplies and canned food or snacks for the first night in your new home or apartment so that you do not have to sort through boxes of critical articles.
